In relation to cookies, we would like to particularly highlight your right to withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

For what purposes and on what basis do we use cookies?

Which specific cookies do we use and what is their lifespan?

A detailed list of all cookies used on the Website is provided below. The list includes additional necessary information, including the lifespan of cookies, i.e., the duration of their functionality. Depending on the storage duration in your device or internet browser, cookies can be divided into short-term (so-called session cookies), which are deleted after closing the browser or ending the session, and long-term (so-called persistent cookies), which remain stored on your device and are deleted after a certain period or if you manually delete them.

We are required to inform you about the processing of cookies as if we were processing personal data to the extent required by Articles 13 and 14 of the GDPR. This document supplements CU’s information on personal data protection, available at https://uniba.sk/ochrana-osobnych-udajov.

How to withdraw your consent for cookies?

At the bottom of the Website, you will find an option labeled “Change Cookie Settings.” Clicking this option will reopen the cookie banner, where you can change your original preference with a single click (see image below). Changes to settings take effect immediately.

You can also withdraw your consent by submitting a request to our Data Protection Officer, but this process is not immediate or automatic. Therefore, we recommend changing settings directly on the Website as described above.

How to prevent cookies from being stored on your device?

If you do not provide consent through our cookie banner (except for necessary cookies), cookies will not be stored on your device. Not consenting to analytical cookies does not affect the functionality of the Website. You can delete all types of cookies (both necessary and analytical) at any time through your internet browser settings, but deleting necessary cookies may cause some Website settings and functions to not work optimally.

Do we transfer your data to third countries outside the EU/EEA?

Yes, to a necessary and minimal extent. Some of our suppliers used for cookies, or their affiliated group companies, are based in the United States, which is generally considered a third country that does not ensure an adequate level of protection. In many cases, the data may not physically leave servers located in the EU, but processing may still be subject to the legal framework of the third country due to the supplier’s location. Such cross-border transfers are carried out strictly in accordance with legal regulations (particularly GDPR) and only when additional measures mitigating risks to data subjects are implemented, as required by the Court of Justice of the EU in case C- 311/18 (Schrems II).

On July 10, 2023, the European Commission adopted a new implementing decision approving the “EU-US Data Privacy Framework,” which constitutes an adequacy decision under Article 45 of the GDPR. Based on this, personal data transfers to certified organizations (data importers) in the USA can be carried out without the need for further authorization or additional safeguards.

If we cannot rely on the European Commission’s adequacy decision for a third country under Article 45 of the GDPR, we require the adoption of specific safeguards under Article 46 of the GDPR (most commonly standard contractual clauses) or Article 47 (binding corporate rules), and, if necessary, additional measures to protect the rights and freedoms of data subjects.
